Mumbai, October 2: In an unfortunate incident in Mumbai, a 52-year-old businessman from Matunga allegedly died by suicide by jumping from Atal Setu. The alleged incident occurred today, October 2, at around 9 AM. Cops said that the businessman parked his car on the Atal Setu, also known as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), before jumping off the bridge.

The Times of India reports that the deceased has been identified as Phillip Shah. Police officials said that the incident occurred at a 14.5 km distance in the jurisdiction of Nhava Sheva police in Navi Mumbai. The deceased businessman was identified after cops found his Aadhar card in his car park on the Atal Setu. She said that the MTHL's CCTV control room in Mumbai received an alert after a Honda City car reportedly halted on Atal Setu. The CCTV control room alerted the rescued team patrolling in the sea which immediately rushed to the spot and fished out Shah. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

After the incident, the police contacted Shah's wife and informed her about his death. Shah's wife told cops that her husband left home at 8 AM and told her that he was going to Navi Mumbai to attend a public function. In a separate incident, the body of a 40-year-old banker who stopped his car on Atal Setu and jumped into the sea was recovered on the seashore in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, October 1. The deceased man was identified as Sushant Chakravarti.
