Mumbai, October 25: A man in Mumbai allegedly tried to kidnap a 12-year-old boy over previous issues with his parent; however, the victim foiled his kidnapping bid. The incident took place when the minor boy was on his way to a grocery store near his residence in the RCF colony. The accused, identified as Imam Husain Rahim Qureshi (35), reportedly got out of an autorickshaw and gagged the minor boy before forcing him into the vehicle.
However, Qureshi ran out of luck as the minor boy who was scared fought the accused and even bit him to escape his clutches, reports the Hindustan Times. Police officials said the incident occurred on October 16 when complainant Khurshid Shaikh (33) sent her son to the nearby grocery store. However, when her son came later crying in a state of shock. After escaping Qureshi's clutches, the victim rushed home and narrated the incident to his mother, who, along with her brothers, went to the crime scene to look for the kidnapper. For a few days, the family kept watch to nab the kidnapper, and on Monday, when the minor boy recognised Qureshi, they caught hold of him. After this, they called the cops and handed over the accused.
Acting on Shaikh's complaint, the police registered an FIR against Qureshi under section 363 with 511 (attempting to kidnap) of the Indian Penal Code. A police officer said that the accused and the victim's family had a fight in the past over petty issues. The officer said that Qureshi wanted to scare the family, which is why he tried to kidnap the boy. The complainant is a homemaker who lives in Chembur's Vashi Naka with her parents, husband, and children. Her husband works as a driver in Mahabaleshwar.
