Mumbai, October 14: Ahead of the Navratri festival in Mumbai, a man and his friends from the city were allegedly duped to the tune of Rs 5.17 lakh after being lured by cheap Garba passes of Falguni Pathak's show. The victims lost the money after a man reportedly lured them on the promise of providing them with Garba passes of dandiya queen Falguni Pathak's show at discounted rates.
The victim has been identified as Nihar Shreyas Modi, a resident of Thakur Village, Kandivali. As per a report in the Hindustan Times, Modi, along with his parents, wanted to take part in the Falguni Pathak Garba nights, which are held at Chikuwadi in Borivali West. On Tuesday, October 10, Nihar found that one of his friend Shreyas Shah's acquaintances had passes for the same, which the so-called person was selling for Rs 3,300 per person. Following this, the victim called Vishal Shah, his acquaintance who has a marble flooring business in Borivali and told him that he wanted 156 passes for him and his friends.
To this, Vishal promised to provide him with passes and even sent a man to collect the cash from Modi. Later, he told Modi an address from where he could pick up the passes. After collecting Rs 5.17 lakh from his friends, Modi reached the spot near the Western Express Highway in Borivali. A man arrived in an auto, collected the cash from Modi and left. Post this, Vishal directed Modi to collect the passes from Green Building number 2 in MHB Colony. However, Modi could not find the building upon reaching the address. When he tried calling Vishal, his number was switched off. This is when he realised he was cheated. Modi immediately approached the MHB colony police station and lodged a complaint against Vishal.
