Mumbai, October 2: The Mumbai police recently arrested an 80-year-old pavement dweller for allegedly killing his son in Dadar. Cops said that the accused killed his 35-year-old son near Our Lady of Salvation High School at Gokhale Road in Dadar on Sunday evening, September 29. In the beginning, the accused told cops that an unknown person stabbed his son; however, his lie was caught by the police as they found several discrepancies in his story.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the accused has been identified as Yuvaraj Dattu Kale, a native of Lasur in Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Cops said that Kale lived with his son, Anwar Yuvaraj Kale, on the pavement along Gokhale Road. The father-son duo reportedly sold scrap and even sought alms for a living. Soon, they reached the spot where they found Anwar lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Sion Hospital. Meanwhile, Kale told cops that his son was stabbed by an unknown person. Based on his statement, cops registered a case and started probing the matter. In the meantime, Anwar passed away while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Following this, cops converted the case to murder. Launching a probe in connection with the incident, cops scanned CCTV footage of the area but could not find any unknown person, as claimed by Kale. Post this, they questioned Kale who kept changing the description of the incident. Kale told cops that he stabbed his son for stealing INR 1,000 from him. Soon after he confessed his crime, the police arrested Kale. They have also launched a search operation to recover the murder weapon.
