Mumbai, April 7: In a shocking incident, a minor girl in Mumbai was allegedly raped and murdered by a man in a public toilet. Police informed that a nine-year-old girl was raped and killed in Vile Parle area in the city on Friday. According to a PTI report, the girl’s body was found inside a public toilet at Nehru Nagar area on Saturday morning. The accused has been booked under IPC sections 302 (murder), 376 (rape) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official added. According to reports, the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a rape convict, who was released from jail in 2018 after serving his sentence. Three-Year-Old Digitally Raped by Sanitation Worker in School Toilet in Gurugram. 

The minor’s body was found inside a public toilet in the same locality around 10 am on Saturday during a search operation”, the official added. Soon after the body was recovered, it was sent for post-mortem, police said. The incident drew criticism and a large number of local residents gathered outside the Juhu police station demanding “justice”.

According to details by a police official, the victim was a resident of a chawl at Nehru Nagar in Vile Parle. She had gone missing on Thursday following which a missing report was filed at Juhu police station.

A similar incident was reported from the national capital in March where the body of a woman was found hanging in a public toilet near Maa Anandamayee Marg in Govindpuri. According to reports, the woman, who lived nearby, had left home to relieve herself. When she did not return, her family started looking for her until someone spotted her body.
