Dombivili, July 12: In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old from Dombivli slipped into a nullah while urinating and lost his life on Tuesday night. According to reports, the incident took place in Dombivli’s Nandivli area when the boy- identified as Harshad Jimkal, had stopped near the nullah to urinate. Failing to distinguish the narrow stream from the flooded road, Harshad lost his balance and slipped into the water.
According to a report by Mid-Day, a team of the fire brigade, Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) and local fishermen were pressed into service to carry out a search operation. Govind Bodke, KDMC commissioner informed that the fire brigade team is at the spot since Tuesday night and carrying out the rescue operation and everyone is trying their best to find him.
The shocking incident came to light after the brother of the deceased boy informed the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) about his brother’s death. The body of the deceased is yet to be recovered. His brother said he tried to call Harshad, his phone was unavailable and later was informed by a local about the incident. As soon as he reached the spot, Harshad had drowned.
“No one saw him slipping into the water, but when he started shouting for help, a local immediately called me up”, he was quoted by Mid-Day. “When I tried to contact Harshad, his phone rang a couple of times, but then it was unavailable. When I reached the spot and talked to the locals, I realised that he had drowned”, he added.
The victim’s brother said that their parents are still unaware of the incident. He added saying people have been looking for him but haven't been able to trace him yet.
