Mumbai Records Hottest Day of Season at 40 Degrees Celsius, Temperature Said to Touch 42 Degrees on Tuesday

Mumbai, March 26: Mumbaikars continued to battle extremely uneasy and hot weather conditions as the temperature across the city touched 40 degrees Celsius on Monday. The mercury levels across the city will see a spike even on Tuesday with temperature inching towards 42 degrees. Residents across the city have been witnessing a spike in temperature day since Saturday. On Monday, the summer heat scorched Mumbai residents as the mercury levels across the city recorded 40 degree Celsius for the first time.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature will see a considerable rise in the coming days. K S Hosalikar, deputy director general of meteorology at the regional India Meteorological Department informed that the rise in temperature is likely to prevail in the coming week.

Reports inform that the city is currently witnessing easterly winds. These winds are hot, dry and strong and are coming from areas like Rajasthan leading to a spike in temperatures. Meanwhile, another season for the rise in temperatures is also delayed onset of sea breeze. However a slight dip in the maximum temperatures is expected by Tuesday," she said.
According to private weather agency, Skymet Weather, the city may reach the mark of 34 to 35°C today and 38 to 40°C during the coming days. The report added saying that apart from Mumbai, several other regions including Vidarbha, Marathwada and South Madhya Maharashtra will also remain hot as the actual temperatures will remain above normal by one to two degrees.
