Mumbai, August 29: The Mumbai police have issued a lookout circular (LoC) against a 20-year-old for allegedly sexually assaulting his schoolmate during a birthday party in the city. Police officials said the incident occurred in 2020 when the Cumballa Hill resident sexually assaulted his 20-year-old schoolmate at a birthday party.

An officer said that the accused is presently in Australia for higher studies. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, the police officer said, "Once he returns to India, we will be notified about him." Back then, the accused, who was 17 and studying in one of South Mumbai's top schools, met the girl at the party. During the birthday party, the accused reportedly took the girl to a bathroom, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. The accused even filmed the act and later uploaded the same online.

Soon after the COVID-19 lockdown was lifted, the victim left for London for further studies. In her statement, the woman said that she went into depression after the incident. Following this, the family approached cops and lodged a complaint. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under various sections of IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The accused has also been booked under various provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
