Mumbai, July 2: In a tragic incident, two men died after they drowned while being stuck in their car at Milan Subway in Andheri area of Mumbai. According to reports, the two stranded men tried to force open the doors and break the windows but the outside water pressure didn't allow it. The Andheri Subway was shut due to waterlogging and traffic has been diverted via Gokhale bridge and Thackeray bridge. Due to heavy rainfall in Mumbai, water logging and flooding has been reported in several areas resulting in traffic congestion.  On Monday, the Mumbai Police informed that waterlogging was reported from several areas including S. V. Road Andheri Subway Jn, Lokmanya Tilak Ganesh Visarjan Talao, Crystal House, Andheri E, Sakinaka Junction, Postal Colony, Bhavans College Jn. Andheri (W), Durga Nagar Jn. JVLR, Gumpha Road Junction, Bahar junction, Behram Baug junction, SV road and DN Nagar. As per the latest predictions of the Meteorological Department, the city is set to receive more rains in the next 24 hours. Amid heavy downpour, the state government of Maharashtra has declared July 2 as a public holiday. "In wake of the extremely heavy rainfall forecast by the IMD, the Government of Maharashtra has declared a public holiday on 2nd July as a precautionary measure for Mumbai city and its citizens," said BMC CPRO.

On June 28, a woman was pulled out of the Milan subway in Malad after the area was lashed by heavy rainfall. The woman was rescued by locals present in the area. According to reports, a video of the incident showed a man on a ledge near the subway's roof lying down and pulling the woman up.
