In Mumbai’s neighbouring district Thane 182 mm rainfall has been recorded over the past 24 hours. Heavy traffics jams are reported from the area due to excessive rainfall. Roads in Thane are so heavily waterlogged that rainwater even flooded buses in Thane.
Mumbai, July 9: Heavy rains across Mumbai and neighbouring areas have affected normal life for the third consecutive day. As the heavy rains continue to lash the maximum city, waterlogging is being reported from several areas. The rainfall has adversely hit several low lying areas. Local railway tracks are also flooded with water due to which local train services are hampered. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Skymet weather, have warned of more rains till Wednesday.

Due to heavy downpour, Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde has declared a holiday for all schools for the day. Mumbai Police has appealed to Mumbaikars to drive safe amid low visibility due to heavy rains. Heavy duty pumps are being used to pump out water from railway tracks at Dadar, Matunga Road, Goregaon and other locations. Trains in central lines are running late by 25 mins. Routes of BEST buses have also been diverted due to waterlogging.
