Mumbai, September 3: Amid incessant downpour for the last couple of days, the Ganapati Utsav celebrations have been stalled in maximum parts of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane in Maharashtra. In Mumbai, waterlogging can be seen in Andheri, Sion and King Circle. Though on Monday, heavy rains lashed Lalbaug area, but devotees still lined up for Ganpati darshan. India Meteorological Department had stated that the reason for torrential downpour over the last 24 hours is due to the presence of a Cyclonic Circulation which is over South Gujarat coast. Earlier on Sunday, the IMD predicted that the Western region is most likely to receive more rainfall in the next two-three days. This is due to the active west coast moving towards south Konkan and further.

Earlier, Skymet Weather informed the rainfall activity in the city has increased after the night on Monday. It stated that in the last 21 hours from 5.30 am on Monday, Santa Cruz in Mumbai has recorded 106 mm of rainfall. The heavy rain in the city has brought normal life to a standstill as waterlogging was reported from several areas, and parked vehicles were also seen partially submerged.
