Union minister Piyush Goyal said that the Indian Railways and Maharashtra state government will shell out Rs 65,000 crore for the safety work in Mumbai suburban rail network.

Hours after a part of Road Over Bridge had collapsed in Mumbai's Andheri West this morning, the Harbour line traffic near Andheri, Mumbai has been restored. Railways is working to reinstate all remaining railway sections too.

In wake of the incessant rainfall, the Central Railway is sending one empty rake of Rajya Rani Express to Vasai Road to clear rush of commuters from there. Reports inform that this train will bring commuters from Vasai to Mumbai via the Diva route.
"We're assessing that by 1400 hrs we'll be able to restore harbour line route which will ensure connectivity b/w Church Gate as well as CSMT to Goregaon. As far as fast lines are concerned we're expecting to restore them by 1900 hrs & all the lines by midnight," says Western Railway PRO
Western Railway tweets,"Cranes have been deployed to lift the slabs from the tracks near Andheri. Harbour line restoration between Andheri-Vile Parle will ensure connectivity between Churchgate & Goregaon as well as CSMT-Goregaon."
Vistara says they will accommodate passengers in other flights if they miss flight due to traffic congestion. "Due to flyover collapse (Andheri Gokhale bridge) there is heavy traffic congestion on the road to Mumbai Airport impacting customers. We will accommodate customers who miss their flight, on seat availability basis in the next flight with no additional fee or fare," the airline tweetes.

While waterlogging and traffic jams were being reported from some areas like Jogeshwari on Monday evening, the impact remains to be seen on Tuesday morning as Mumbaikars step out for work and it continues to rain.
There were also reports of some local train delays as people took to Twitter to update about some trains getting late by about 15 minutes. There were reports of a fast train from Churchgate to Virar stalled between Jogeshwari and Andheri for 15 minutes.
