Western Railway issues update For commuters. It said, "Suburban Services restored between Churchgate and Virar(except slow corridor between CCG and Andheri due to water logging near Mahim). Mumbai, September 4: Heavy rains continue to lash Mumbai on the second consecutive day. The India Meteorological Department (IMA) has issued “Orange Alert” for Mumbai and Thane. Due to heavy downpour, he Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) also directed all the schools of the maximum city to remain closed and urged the principals of the educational institutes to send students back home safely in case they had reached.

The civic body also urged people not to venture near the sea. High tide warning has also been issued in the city. According to Tide-Forecast, high tides of about 4.18 metres (13.71ft) are expected in at around 3.17 pm on September 4. Mumbai Rains: All Schools in Maximum City to Remain Closed on September 4 on BMC's Directions as IMD Issues 'Orange Alert'.

Due to incessant rains, waterlogging has also been reported in low lying areas like Sion, Dadar, Parel and Kings Circle affecting the traffic movement. Local trains are also running late. As per Skymetweather, the financial capacity has recorded three-digit rainfall to the tune of 103 mm in a span of 21 hours until 5:30 am today. The rainfall in Mumbai is a result of a cyclonic circulation which is still persisting over the South Gujarat region.
