A couple of spells of heavy rains lashed Mumbai and surrounding areas on Monday, leading to waterlogging in some areas and affecting flight operations.
Mumbai Police said, "India Meteorological Department (IMD), has shared forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall (upto 200 mm) in the next 24 hours. We request Mumbaikars to take precautions and ensure safety."

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a clarification and denied reports of a bike falling into a manhole in Chembur. A video is being widely shared with the caption that a bike fell into a manhole in Chembur. However, BMC said it didn't happen in Mumbai.
"This video is not from Mumbai. We request all the citizens to please verify facts before circulating such content, which could lead to unnecessary panic," BMC tweeted.
There are reports of severe waterlogging in the Mahape area in Navi Mumbai. Mumbaikars are tweeting images of the roads in the area completely waterlogged.
Local train services on Central and Western lines are severely hit due to flooded tracks at some stations. According to officials, several trains have been cancelled due to flooding on the tracks.

Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts of Maharashtra are likely to witness heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD). "Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at a few places with extremely falls at isolated places in the districts of Raigad and Palghar, and at a few places in the district of Mumbai and Thane, today," it said.
"Heavy to very Heavy rainfall likely to occur at a few places in the districts of Raigad, Thane, Palghar and Mumbai on July 9, and heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Raigad, Thane, Palghar and Mumbai on July 10," it added.
A wall has collapsed in Andheri East area. A woman is reportedly trapped under debris. According to the India Meteorological Department, Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts of Maharashtra will expect more rains in the next 24 hours.
Tracks are flooded at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli and Vidyavihar stations following heavy rains in Mumbai. Local trains are running behind the scheduled time due to intense rainfal.
Several parts of Navi Mumbai are waterlogged due to incessant rainfall since morning. Traffic jams have also been reported due to waterlogging. A flood-like situation is being seen on roads.

Daily commuters in Mumbai had a tough time during rush hours on Monday as heavy rains disrupted road traffic and delayed local train services. Several parts of Sion, Bandra, the Western and Eastern express highways, and Andheri are waterlogged and traffic jams are being reported from these parts.

While some areas in Mumbai witnessed light rains, Andheri, Bandra and Ghatkopar saw heavy rainfall. Traffic movement was affected on several junctions due to waterlogging after a heavy downpour. Local train services, however, on Central, Harbour, Western and Tran Harbour lines were normal despite heavy showers. Flight movement was suspended at the Mumbai airport due to low visibility.
"Due to heavy rains, visibility is changing every minute. Since 9:15 am, the visibility at the airport is fluctuating. There is a delay due to weather. No cancellation as of now but three diversions took place till now," a spokesperson told news agency ANI. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted intermittent showers in the city with heavy to very heavy rainfalls at isolated places. High tides are expected at 4.18 pm.

Mumbai received the first heavy rainfall of the monsoon season on June 28. On July 1, the financial capital came to a standstill after receiving the record rainfall. Mumbai received 375 mm of rainfall on Monday, making it the maximum July downpour that the city has seen over a 24-hour period, breaking the record of 1974. Flight operations at the Mumbai airport were also hit severely due to heavy rains.
