Mumbai has been witnessing a heavy downpour since Friday morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials put the Konkan region and Mumbai on high alert as the region will be lashed by heavy rainfall even on Saturday. Konkan was believed to be one of the wettest regions in the country during the next 24 hours as rainfall activity has increased. Heavy rains continued to lash Mumbai for the second consecutive day. Water-logging was reported at various area of the Maximum city due to which traffic movement was affected. Local train services between Kalyan and Karjat/Khopoli was also suspended due to incessant rains. Around 17 flights were diverted and many delayed by up to an hour on Friday evening due to heavy rain and low visibility.

Mumbai Police advised people to maintain distance from Sea. Mumbai Police said, "City is expecting intermittent heavy showers all through the night. We request commuters to not venture in water logged areas&also request you all to maintain distance from the sea. Please tweet to us or call on 100 in any emergency/need of help."

Mumbai, July 26: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in Mumbai, Thane and Raigad and Palghar districts of Maharashtra from July 27 to July 28. According to reports, Mumbai and Thane may receive heavy rainfall between 64.5 millimetres and  204.4 millimetres till Sunday. Mumbai Rains: Vistara, IndiGo Alert Passengers About Flight Delays at Mumbai Airport.

KS Hosalikar, Deputy Director General (DDG), IMD tweeted, “Rainfall in last 24 hrs at morning 6.30 am today in Mumbai and around. Few stations reported heavy rainfall in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. An IMD official told The Times of India that due to heavy-to-very-heavy rainfall possibility from 27 July, there may be flooding in low-lying areas. On Thursday, Palghar received more than 3 cm rainfall.  A red alert was also issued for July 26 and July 28 in the district. Meanwhile, on July 24, Mumbai witnessed waterlogging and long traffic jams due to heavy rains. On Thursday, Santa Cruz observatory recorded 25.4 millimetres and Colaba 11.6 millimetre.
