With rains lashing the megacity, flight operations are currently normal at Mumbai Airport. Though there are delays of 15 minutes in arrivals and 30 minutes in departures.
In another news, Raigad Police shifted 63 people of Sonyachi Vaadi village to a safer place using boats by the Police following flood-like situation in the area due to continuous rainfall.
Central Railways cancels Kalyan-Thane Up fast line (11.20 am to 3.50 pm) mega block on Sunday. However, CSMT-Chunabhatti/Bandra Up and Dn Harbour line mega block (11.10 am to 4.10 pm) will be operated as announced.
Central Railways informs all corridors operational. It has asked commuters to adjust with slow speed for the time being.
It said, "Fast corridor between CSMT and Kalyan also operational from 18.21 hrs. The trains will be running at cautious speed for some time to clear midsection bunching. Please bear with us."
Adding on, it said, "CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus)-Vashi route cleared. Services on this section also resume. All Central Railway suburban corridors are now operational."
With heavy downpour lashing the megacity, BMC and Mumbai Police diverts traffic for commuters. The administration also made special arrangements for buses and is running buses between Vadala Road and Vashi. Also, MCGM arranged relief camp for stranded passengers at CST, Dadar and Kurla station.
Central Railway cancelled train number 12128 PUNE-CSMT Intercity express and 22106 PUNE-CSMT Indrayani express leaving PUNE today are cancelled. It has also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to commuters.
Vehicular movement from Mumbra to Kharegaon Toll Naka is very slow due to the halt of all heavy vehicles on the same line, Thane police said. It advised commuters to take Mumbra- Airoli and Mulund -Thane roads.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) urged Mumbaikars not to believe in any rumours about waterlogging or traffic after heavy rains lashed Mumbai.
A holiday has been declared in all schools in Mumbai after the India Meteorological Department predicted "extremely heavy rainfall" in the next 24 hours in the city.
While local trains are running late on central and harbour lines due to heavy rains across Mumbai, services are normal on the western line despite intense rainfall.
The Mumbai police urged Mumbaikars not to venture into the sea and avoid walking in waterlogged areas. "As per weather forecast, Intense spells of rain likely to continue in the next 4 hrs and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hrs. We request Mumbaikars to take adequate precautions & ensure safety," Mumbai Police tweeted.
Due to water on tracks following heavy rains in Mumbai, local train services on central and harbour lines are running later, said the Central Railway. "Due to intense rains, trains on main and harbour line are running at a cautious speed, hence delayed," it said.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains for Maharashtra. According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is expected in the Konkan region, including Mumbai, and parts of central and western Maharashtra in the next two days.
