Mumbai, August 7: Heavy rainfall will continue to lash parts of Maharashtra on Wednesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Along with the outskirts of Maharashtra, Mumbai will also have to brace for heavy rainfall in isolated parts of the city on Wednesday due to a depression over the Bay of Bengal. According to the weather agency, heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at a few places in several districts of Raigad and Thane on Wednesday, August 7.  Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Mumbai.  Maharashtra Rains: Three Kolhapur Villages with 7, 000 People Cut Off Completely.

According to reports, the rainfall activity in the city is likely to intensify from Wednesday. On Tuesday, very light rainfall was recorded in Mumbai, while Thane received a few rains spells throughout the day. The IMD has also issued a red alert has also been issued for few places in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurgh, Pune, Kolhapur and Satara districts.

In its weather bulletin, the IMD said that a depression over northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to deepen in the next 24 hours. The deep depression, in association with an active Arabian Sea, will cause isolated extremely heavy rainfall over the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, among other regions, in the coming days.

The IMD predicted that the maximum and minimum temperatures in the metropolis are likely to be around 30 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. "Strong winds with speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to prevail along and off Maharashtra - Goa coast during next five days (06-08-2019 to 10-08-2019) Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea during the above period," the weather bulletin added.

On Tuesday, the IMD predicted widespread rainfall over Odisha, south Chhattisgarh, south Madhya Pradesh, central Maharashtra, south Konkan, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, northern Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana during the coming days.
