Mumbai Rains: Heavy Rainfall to Lash City on September 8 and 9, IMD Issues Alert
In its weather bulletin, the weather agency on Saturday predicted that the metropolis is set to receive 'heavy to very heavy rainfall' on Sunday and Monday. The city has been receiving a heavy downpour over the last few days, with several areas being waterlogged.
Mumbai, September 7: Heavy rainfall is likely to lash Mumbai and its surrounding areas in the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. In its weather bulletin on Saturday, the weather agency predicted that the metropolis is set to receive 'heavy to very heavy rainfall' on Sunday and Monday. The city has been receiving a heavy downpour over the last few days, with several areas being waterlogged. Vehicular movement in Sion and Kurla area was disrupted as streets were waterlogged, causing inconvenience to commuters. "Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls very likely at isolated places over Vidarbha and Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa and Telangana", the IMD said. The weather agency has also predicted a cloudy weather till Sunday. Till Saturday morning, the Colaba observatory recorded a rainfall of 70 mm in the last 24 hours. This is higher compared to the quantum of rains recorded by the Santa Cruz centre.

Local trains on the Main and Western lines of the Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) in Mumbai were running with a delay of 10-15 mins, with no untoward incident being reported. Earlier this week, local train services of the Central Line, Harbour Lines, and the Western Line were paralysed due to very heavy rains, causing inundation of tracks and influx of water from the Mithi river in Kurla.
