Mumbai Rains: Heavy Rainfall to Continue on Monday, IMD Issues Alert for Raigad, Thane, Palghar

The incessant rains in the city has led to water-logging and traffic snarls in several areas of the metropolis. On Saturday, the Met department predicted 'heavy to very heavy rainfall' for Mumbai and adjoining areas on Sunday and Monday. The city will witness a cloudy weather for this period.

Mumbai, September 9: Heavy rainfall will continue to lash Mumbai and its neiggbouring areas on Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. The city has been witnessing a downpour since the last few days. The incessant rains in the city have led to water-logging and traffic snarls in several areas including Sion, Kurla, Wadala, Andheri among others. On Saturday, the Met department predicted 'heavy to very heavy rainfall' for Mumbai and adjoining areas on Sunday and Monday. In its weather bulletin, the IMD predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Maharashtra —Palghar, Raigad, Thane, and Mumbai. On Sunday morning, the Colaba observatory had recorded a rainfall of 70 mm in 24 hours. This was higher compared to the quantum of rains recorded by the Santa Cruz centre. According to a report by TOI, the total rainfall received this season till Sunday was 3,286.4mm, which is the first time since 2011 that Mumbai's annual rainfall has crossed 3,000mm. Maharashtra Rains: Gadchiroli Faces Flood-Like Situation Following Heavy Rainfall, IMD Issues Red Alert.

Parts of Maharashtra including Kolhapur, Gadchiroli, Satara and others have been receiving heavy rainfall. According to a tweet by ANI, over 700 people from 347 families were evacuated from villages of Shirol and Karvir towns of Maharashtra’s Kolhapur to safer places as a precautionary measure after increased rainfall in the area.
