Mumbai Rains Forecast Today: City Limps Back to Normalcy, Moderate Rainfall Expected During Day, High Tide at 1:20 PM

Mumbai, July 4: MumbaiĀ limped back to normalcy on Thursday after being battered by heavy rainfall since Sunday. TheĀ Disaster Management Unit (DMU) in its weather bulletin on Thursday said the city would witness moderate rains during the day. The DMU further added saying that Mumbai will be lashed by a high tide at 1. 20 PM on Thursday. "Todayā€™s weather forecast at 08.00 hours - Moderate rain in city and suburbs. Commuters breathed a sigh of relief as public transport including local train services, buses and cabs resumed services after torrential rains subsided. The city was paralysed on Tuesday after receiving the record rainfall till date. On Tuesday, at 375.2 mm, the rainfall in the 24-hour period before 8.30 am was the highest since the July 26, 2005, deluge in Mumbai. With this, Mumbai receivedĀ record-breakingĀ rainfall, making it the maximum July downpour that the city has seen over a 24-hour period, breaking the record of 1974.

The torrential rains crippled normal life across the city with most roads getting clogged and local train services, the financial capitals lifeline, virtually coming to a standstill. The state government ofĀ Maharashtra declared a precautionary public holiday on Tuesday in Mumbai after the Central Railway (CR) suspended services at several areas between Mumbai-Thane. Meanwhile, suburban train services were disrupted on the Western Railway due to incessant record rain, officials said.

The IMD forecast stated thatĀ Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts will receiveĀ more rains till Friday, besides continuing downpour in Nashik and parts of Western Maharashtra, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
