Mumbai-Pune Railway Link Still Dysfunctional, Likely to be Restored by Weekend

Mumbai, August 8: Trains plying between Mumbai and Pune using the southeast railway network via Karjat still continue to remain dysfunctional. The middle and down line down damaged due to heavy rains and roll-down of boulders could not be completely repaired due to incessent downpour over the last couple of days.

A total of 370 long-distance trains whose movement have been restricted due to the heavy rains, landslide and boulders roll-down. Services of 44 other short-distance passenger trains have also been suspended due to the rain-soaked soft soil rolling down the hills between Thakurwadi and Monkey Hill.
Apart from the long-distance routes, trains on the suburban Mumbai network were running with prolonged delays earlier this week due to deluge in key stations like Badlapur, Karjat and Titwala.
