Mumbai, September 5: There is some important information for those who will be travelling to Pune or are planning to travel to Pune on Thursday. Vehicles headed to Pune from Mumbai will be diverted on Thursday via the old Mumbai-Pune highway. The highway will be closed for two hours from 12 pm to 2 pm on Thursday, said reports.
English daily Hindustan Times, mentioned in its report that the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is erecting an overhead structure on the highway. The report quoted a police officer saying that signboards and video messages will be put up for motorists to make them aware about the development.
The officer was further quoted saying that cars and passenger vehicles will be diverted at Shedung. The vehicles will be diverted from Shedung to the old Mumbai-Pune highway. The report also mentions that the diverted vehicles can take the expressway again at Khopoli.
Heavy vehicles will also be stopped on the roadsides while the block will be in effect. Vijay Patil, the officer quoted by the report, said that additional manpower will be deployed so as to guide motorists and ensure effectiveness. The officer has urged commuters to cooperate. According to the MSRDC engineers quoted by the report, this is the first of the 13 structures or gantries to be constructed on the 94-km long expressway.
