Mumbai: Portion of Under-Construction Building Collapses in Nagpada, 2–3 Feared Trapped

A portion of a slab of an under-construction building collapsed at Peer Khan Street in Mumbai's Nagpada on Monday. According to reports, two to three people are likely trapped under debris.

Mumbai, April 15: A portion of a slab of an under-construction building collapsed at Peer Khan Street in Mumbai's Nagpada on Monday. According to reports, two to three people are likely trapped under debris. Along with locals, three fire engines are pressed into action for the rescue operations. Till now, no loss of life was reported. Earlier in a similar incident from Maharashtra's Dharavi, an under-construction collapsed killing one and injuring three. The incident took place at PMGP colony on April 14, 2019. The investigation into the matter has been launched.

The fire and building collapse incidents are regular in Mumbai even after the strict fire and safety rules. According to a report, there have been more than 49,000 incidents of fire in Mumbai in the last decade, killing 600 people.
