Mumbai, September 17: A raid took place at a Borivali based bar on Saturday, following which sixty-one people were arrested for obscenity and four women dancers were rescued. According to an Indian Express report, the accused were mostly employees of the bar, while the women were sent to a shelter home. Mumbai BMC Official Among 15 Held in Raid at Dance Bar in Colaba.

After getting a tip-off, Mumbai Police raided Charvak Bar located in Borivali An officer quoted in the report said, "When our team reached the spot, we found obscene acts were on at the bar, following which we arrested 61 people and rescued the four-bar dancers."

The people arrested were booked under IPC sections 294 (indulging in obscene acts and songs), 114 (abettor present when the offence is committed) and 34 (common intention), the officer said.

In May, at least 15 persons, including a senior official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), were arrested following a raid on a dance bar in Colaba at South Mumbai. Earlier this year, the top court relaxed the stringent conditions set by the state government for issuing licences to dance bars and upheld the performance timing cap of five and half hours for the dance performances.
