Mumbai, August 14: The Mumbai police foiled a suicide bid and saved a man who allegedly tried to end his life in the city. The incident came to light when the 21-year-old man posted a status on his Facebook account. In his post, the man said that he wanted to end his life on Friday. In no time, the MIDC police station swung into action after they were alerted by the Mumbai Cyber Police team.
According to a report in the Times of India, the Mumbai Cyber Police shared the suicide attempt alert with MIDC police, which quickly sprung into action. The police tracked the man to Goni Nagar in Andheri (East). Upon reaching the man's place, the police stopped the youth from hanging himself and taking his life. While speaking to the cops, the man said that he was contemplating suicide as he was under financial stress. Soon after the social media company saw the suicide status, they alerted the cyber cell of Mumbai police, which quickly traced the man's location. The cyber cell then contacted the MIDC police to locate the address and stop the suicide bid.
After receiving the suicide warning, D Nalawad, DCP (Zone X), formed a team and reached the spot. They stopped the person from ending his life. The police officers brought the man to the police station and counselled him before letting him go. In a separate incident, six people, including three children, received injuries after being stung by jellyfish at Juhu Beach in Mumbai. The incident took place on Monday, a civic official said. A BMC official said that the people were stung while walking close to the water on the beach shortly after midnight at around 12.20 am.
