Mumbai, December 2: The Mumbai police on Tuesday arrested a man during his wedding procession for allegedly stealing a mobile phone. The accused, identified as Ajay Sunil Dhote, along with his friend Altaf Mirza, was whisked by cops when he was coming home after having got married at a local court in Bandra. The duo was arrested after an investigation into a complaint lodged by a woman said her cell phone had been snatched.

According to the woman's complaint, she was walking with her daughter on Monday morning when two men on a motorcycle snatched her mobile phone, worth Rs 10,000. The incident took place at Amar Mahal junction in Chembur. The woman filed a complaint at the Tilak Nagar police station, after which the police began checking CCTV cameras installed near the crime spot. The crime was caught in one of the CCTV cameras. Mobile Data is Faster Than WiFi Hotspots in These Countries.

The police could not confirm the bike’s number as the number plate was covered with tape. They started making enquiries in Shivaji Nagar and Govandi, and came to know about two thieves - Dhote and Mirza. Cops reached Dhote's house only to find that he had gone to the Bandra court for his marriage. Dhote was dancing with his friends during the wedding procession when the police took him away with Mirza quietly.

“The duo was involved in a similar case registered with us in the past. We are investigating if they were involved in similar cases in other jurisdictions as well,” Satyavan Bile, police sub-inspector (PSI), Tilak Nagar police station, told Hindustan Times. They were arrested under sections 392 (punishment for robbery) and 34 (acts done by several persons in common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
