Mumbai, September 10: A POCSO Court on Monday convicted and sentenced a 35-year-old navy steward to ten years imprisonment and a 29-year-old contractor to 10-years' and 7-years' imprisonment. According to a Times of India report, both the accused have been convicted for repeatedly raping and blackmailing the daughter of a Chief petty officer. In 2015, the absconding accused took the victim to the terrace of her building and raped her. He along with others continued to sexually molest her and blackmail the teenager on two different occasions. It was on July 18, that the girl's parents saw him committing the heinous crime and came to know about the incident

In a statement to the police, the mother of the teenager said that on July 18, when she was returning to their home, along with her husband, she saw the navy steward leaving their house. It was then she felt that something was not right, and asked her daughter about it. The girl then narrated everything to her mother, from how it started with gifting her a phone, befriending her to raping and then blackmailing her.
