Mumbai Plane Crash: Lady Technician Surabhi, Who Died in Ghatkopar Tragedy, Was Two Months Pregnant

Mumbai, June 29: Among the five people killed in the chartered plane crash-at Ghatkopar in Mumbai on Thursday, authorities informed that among them was a lady engineer who was two months pregnant. The deceased, identified as technician Surabhi had celebrated her first marriage anniversary just ten days before the deadly incident took place.
Surabhi was the technician on the craft and only last year she had got married. Reports inform that the Maharashtra government had felicitated Surabhi for her exemplary work. Reports state that Surabhi was two-months-pregnant. One of the deceased was co-pilot Marya Zuberi who showed her presence of mind and averted the plane from crashing in a residential society and the other was Surabhi, the technician onboard the flight.
In the deadly accident, five people, including a pedestrian, were killed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar suburb at 1.45 PM on Thursday. The aircraft went down near Jagruti building in Sarvodaya Nagar, where construction work was underway. Those deceased have been identified as Pilot Pradeep Singh Rajput, co-pilot Maria Zuberi, technician Surabhi and Manish Pandey.
An eye-witness informed that a pedestrian was burnt fatally when some burning fuel from the aircraft fell on him. Names of two injured are - Luvkush Kumar and Naresh Kumar Nishad. Reports inform that the King Air C90 12-seater aircraft which is owned by UY Aviation Pvt. Ltd took off from the Juhu airstrip. A team of officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) rushed to the crash site for an investigation, an official told PTI.
According to details by Aviation expert and Executive Airways Managing Director, Pradeep Thampi, the aircraft was a 26-year-old King Air C-90, purchased from the Uttar Pradesh government by UYAPL around a couple of years ago.
According to a report by TOI, Zuberi, 47, the co-pilot of the plane was certain she would return home early on Thursday as the rainy weather won't permit them to fly. While leaving her Mira Road home early in the morning on Thursday she told this to her husband Prabhat Kathuria.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Police Commissioner Datta Padsalgikar, BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, Congress MLA Naseem Khan and others visited the spot and the hospital where the injured were admitted. Reports inform that
Khan has demanded a probe into how the aircraft managed to get in the funnel way of the country's busiest Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport from where commercial flights take off or land almost continuously.
