Mumbai, November 30: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has recently made it mandatory for pet owners to carry a poop scooper. If a dog owner is found without a scooper, he will be liable for a fine. BMC officials say that this step is taken after a number of walkers complained about the animal poop on streets and pathways. The civic body officials recently put out a circular which says “dog owners must carry, a pet scooper while taking their dog for a walk”. Currently, Clean-up marshals can punish pet owners if their pet litter on the streets but now BMC has directed them to even penalise those who take their pets for a walk without scooper, said Times of India. The city's municipality also said that pet's license would be revoked if the owner is caught thrice without scooper. A pet license is a proof that your pet is registered with the municipal corporation. Under section 191(A) of the MMC Act, it is mandatory for pet dogs to obtain a license. The BMC charges Rs 105 for providing the license and Rs 100 every year for its renewal.
