Mumbai, May 11: The Mumbai police recently arrested the owner of a tour and travel company for allegedly cheating a family in the city. The accused identified as Tejas Shah was arrested on May 5 for cheating a family of Rs 20 lakh by promising to book a trip of theirs to South Africa. Police officials said that Shah is the owner of Purva Holidays. The incident occurred after a man lodged a complaint against Shah and his company.
The complainant, Jaisal Devendra Shah (46), told police that he approached Purva Holidays after seeing their newspaper advertisement in December 2023. According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Shah and his family decided to go to South Africa for 12 days. They were looking for a travel agency that could understand their Jain food requirements. After this, Tejas assured Shah that he would pay him the entire amount back as there were issues booking the South Africa trip.
