Mumbai, June 29: Mumbaikars woke up to heavy rainfall on Saturday as incessant showers continued to lash the city since Friday. According to monsoon prediction by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is expected in Mumbai for the next three days, thus ending a long dry spell.  On Saturday, the minimum and maximum temperatures in the city, will hover around 24 degree Celsius and 31 degree Celsius with relative humidity at 89 per cent. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai received 127 mm rainfall, western suburbs received 170 mm rainfall and eastern suburbs received 197 mm rainfall, in last 24 hours. The IMD said, the heavy downpour will not stop for the next three day, beginning from Saturday. Besides, the Mumbai doppler radar also showed 50.46 per cent cloud build-up in the region. The Met office has predicted  heavy showers in the financial capital in the next 24 hours. "Very active monsoon conditions over west coast, with deep westerlies. Heavy rainfall expected in Mumbai, Thane & around west coast", the IMD said. However, due to the continues downpour, monsoon woes of water-logging, delayed trains, traffic jams and choked drains were reported from several parts of the city.

Meanwhile, in Thane, rainfall has been heavy with the city recording a whopping 283 mm in the last 24 hours.  After a delay of almost two weeks, the first spell of heavy rains lashed the city since Friday morning, slowing down road and rail traffic. BMC said the flow of road traffic has been reported to be slow, while suburban services of the Central and Western Railways were running behind schedule.

In Mumbai, three persons were killed and five injured in rain-related incidents  on Friday. Meanwhile, three people were injured after part of a wall collapsed in Meenatai flower market in Dadar area on Friday. With the onset of monsoon in the city, the BMC has advised people against opening manholes to avoid any untoward incident.
