Mumbai, August 29: India's first monorail will be back in service in Mumbai from September 1. While this may be good news for the commuters, reports say that the fare will be more than double than before.

The monorail service in Mumbai has been closed for more than 10 months as the boxes were closed in Mysore Colony station in November, 2017.

The monorail will be back on the track from September 1. According to reports, the second phase will start from February 2, 2019. The second phase of the monorail will run from Wadala and Jacob Circle.

India's first monorail service started between Mumbai and Chembur from Wadala. Reports said that the railway service was running in loss due to lack of passengers.

In November 2017, a fire broke out in the mono rail boxes near Mysore Colony station. Two monorail boxes were destroyed in the fire. And the monorail service has been blocked since then.

Route:

The Chembur to Wadala (Phase-I) route has 7 stations namely:

1. Chembur

2. V.N.Purav/RC Marg Junction

3. Fertilizer Township

4. Bharat Petroleum

5. Mysore Colony

6. Bhakti Park

7. Wadala Depot

Fares:

The previous fares were as below:

Wadala to Chembur - Rs 11, Wadala to V.N.Purav Marg- Rs 11, Wadala to Fertiliser Township- Rs 9, Wadala to Bharat Petroleum- Rs 9, Wadala to Mysore  Colony- Rs 7, Wadala to Bhakti Park- Rs 5.

According to media reports, the fares are expected to be double than the one displayed before. Talking about capacity, each monorail will have a passenger capacity of 560 with linear seating arrangement.
