Mumbai, July 23: In Mumbai’s Juhu area, a man was booked for sexually harassing a minor girl following a Twitter post that revealed the abuse. On Monday, July 22, the police acted on the girl’s complaint, which detailed being harassed at the same location on three separate occasions. The accused faces charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
According to the Free Press Journal, the minor shared on X {formerly Twitter), “This man was misbehaving with his pants down and shouting at me in the middle of the street at 8:55 a.m. on Sunday.” She also included a video of the incident, tagging Mumbai police. The footage shows a man in his thirties jogging in a vest and shorts in the Jan Kutir area. Additionally, the minor stated that this was the third incident; the other two involved different men. “I tried calling the Nirbhaya squad, but my call was not answered.” Following this, the police asked for her contact details via direct message. The girl expressed her gratitude to the police for stepping up patrols and posted, “Thank you for the phone calls and for making me feel safe.” On Monday, a source revealed that while the police visited her home, she did not come forward with further details.
