Mumbai Metro Worker Dies After 100-Tonne Girder Falls on Him at Metro Line 2A in Kandivali Area

A 25-year-old Mumbai Metro worker died on Friday after a 100-tonne girder fell on him while construction work was underway at Metro Line 2A in Kandivali. The incident took place in the early hours of November 1 near Samta Nagar police station.

Mumbai, November 1: A 25-year-old Mumbai Metro worker died on Friday after a 100-tonne girder fell on him while construction work was underway at Metro Line 2A in Kandivali. The incident took place in the early hours of November 1 near Samta Nagar police station. The deceased has been identified as Arshad Sheikh, a worker of J Kumar, the civil contractor for the construction work, mid-day reported. Mumbai Metro New Routes: Cabinet Approves Wadala to CSMT, Gaimukh to Shivaji Chowk and Kalyan to Taloja Routes.

According to the report, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) officials said that the victim's family will be compensated and an inquiry will be held. "There will be an inquiry and if found guilty after it, all responsible will be punished," said Dilip Kawathkar, MMRDA spokesperson.

In September, a worker died after a part of the emergency exit of Mumbai's metro line-3 collapsed on him while he was working close to it. The accident took place on the line between Powai and Aarey. According to Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL), the worker died after a large rock fell on him. In the incident, another worker had sustained injuries.
