Mumbai, January 19: Mumbai is all ready for the 16th Tata Mumbai Marathon on Sunday. The marathon begins at 5.40 am and the traffic police has issued an advisory about the routes and roads where no vehicular movement will be allowed. The advisory is important for people planning to travel to South Mumbai through the route of Marathon in the morning hours. Substitute routes are also suggested in the advisory. Many roads in South Mumbai will be closed from 4 am to 1 pm considering the marathon. The city has reportedly marked around 62 ‘No Entry’ points. Where as, over 15 roads have been listed as substitute ways on Sunday. However, for hospitals and in case of emergencies, routes have been made available. The traffic restrictions are applicable only for South Mumbai and not in the suburbs beyond Bandra. Mary Kom Named Event Ambassador of Mumbai Marathon.
Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said that, “Road diversions have been made, and traffic constables will be deployed to assist the common man to look for a substitute route.”
Manjunath Singe, Deputy Commissioner of Police and Mumbai police spokesperson, was quoted saying by the Free Press Journal that “To assist the motorists and public, various booths have been installed at the following junctions, which will have traffic personnel and local police for assistance at CSMT, Hutatma Chowk junction, Sundar Mahal junction, Air India junction, Mumbai Central railway junction, Worli naka junction, Airport junction, Siddhivinayak junction, Shivaji Park junction and Mahim junction.”

For elite runners, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus is the start and finish point. They will take a full lap of the Oval Maidan. Whereas casual runners will all finish at a different spot on the opposite side of the Azad Maidan in South Mumbai.
