Mumbai, February 25: The Mumbai police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly killing his elder brother over suspicion of having an illicit affair with his wife in Ulhasnagar. After killing his elder brother, the accused identified as Amit Ramesh Gangurde surrendered before the police. The deceased has been identified as Rohit Ramesh Gangurde.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, both the brothers were married for several years and they lived in a joint family in Ambernath. Cops said that the incident took place when the deceased was fast to sleep and their 76-year-old grandmother was sitting on the bed. After surrendering, accused Amit revealed the entire murder incident to cops. After learning about the murder, police officials reached the spot to find Rohit lying in a pool of blood. They immediately sent the body to central hospital for post-mortem. "The accused had suspected that his elder brother had an extramarital and illicit affair with his wife. Following this, heated arguments ensued between them," Dilip Phulpagare, senior PI, Ulhasnagar police station said.
After the deceased's wife learned about his alleged affair, she took her daughter and went to her maternal place. Cops said that the woman and her daughter had went to meet their grandmother. The police will produce the accused in court today.
