Mumbai, August 27: In a swift and determined effort, Mumbai's Juhu police successfully rescued a five-year-old girl who a friend of her father had kidnapped on August 23. The accused, identified as Ajay Pawar, had been residing with the family in Vile Parle's Sri Lanka Chawl for a year. Claiming to be unwell on that day, Pawar stayed back while the father went to work. Taking advantage of the situation, he took the little girl out to buy a lollipop but failed to return.
Concerned and alarmed by the child's disappearance, her parents approached the Juhu police, initiating a case of kidnapping. The gravity of the situation prompted Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Paramjit Singh Dahiya and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) Krishnakant Upadhyay to spearhead the investigation, forming six teams to track down the abductor and the missing child. Ajay Pawar's motives behind the kidnapping were unveiled during interrogation, as he claimed to have taken such drastic measures due to his contentious relationship with the child's mother over trivial issues. For his actions, Ajay Pawar has been arrested under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code.
