Mumbai, September 25: In an unfortunate incident in Mumbai, a 22-year-old man who was allegedly arrested for stalking a girl in the city reportedly died after suffering an epilepsy attack in jail. Cops said that the deceased, identified as Arif Mehboob Shaikh, died at JJ Hospital while undergoing treatment for epilepsy. Shaikh was admitted to the hospital after he suffered an epileptic attack in jail.

According to a report in The Times of India, Shaikh was arrested under the POCSO Act for allegedly stalking and harassing a girl in Wadala. Deceased Was Arrested for Stalking Minor Girl in Wadala

Shaikh was arrested on Monday, September 16, after the parents of a 16-year-old girl alleged that he used to stalk their daughter. In their complaint, the parents also alleged that Shaikh also used to tease their daughter. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Shaikh. On Sunday, September 22, Shaikh was remanded to judicial custody by a court and sent to Arthur Road Jail.

Shaikh Died During Treatment at JJ Hospital

In the jail, he suffered an epilepsy attack. Following this, he was rushed to JJ Hospital for treatment. However, on Tuesday, September 24, doctors treating Shaikh told jail authorities that he had passed away. Post this, cops sent Shaikh's body for post-mortem and are awaiting the reports. After news of Shaikh's death came to light, a huge crowd led by his family and neighbours thronged the Kalachowkie police station to inquire about his passing away.
