Mumbai, August 11: Commuters using the trans harbour line of Mumbai local railways were left stuck at stations after two coaches of Thane-Vashi trains get derailed between Thane and Airoli. The derailment led to the suspension of both up and down lines on the trans harbour route, which is used for ferrying passengers to and fro between Panvel and Thane.
"Two coaches of TV-85 (Thane-Vashi) local derailed at km 35/16-18 between Thane and Airoli. No injury to any passengers reported. Up and Dn trans-harbour line traffic suspended. Restoration work of rerailing the coaches on. Inconvenience caused is regretted," said the statement issued by Central Railway. Several local train commuters have posted on m-indicator app about trains not plying between Thane and Panvel. Amid the confusion, Central Railway issued the statement to apprise the stranded passengers.
They would be forced to take cab or bus to reach their destinations. The time by which the train harbour line would be resumed has not been specified by the Central Railway.
