Mumbai, January 14: A possible major rail accident was averted on Monday in Mumbai after a man noticed a crack in the track and promptly alerted motorman of the local train. The crack was detected on a track between Tilak Nagar and Kurla stations on Harbour line. The Central Railway later rectified the broken railway line, which disrupted local train services on the Harbour line for a brief period.
According to the Central Railway, a man named Mukesh Kumar noticed a crack in the track and immediately informed the motorman of the CSMT-bound local train. The motorman responded swiftly and stopped the local train before any mishap. The train started from Panvel. Local train services were briefly disrupted due to the crack followed by the restoration work. Meanwhile, the Central Railway has installed a blue light visual indicator just above the entrance of some local trains in Mumbai. The visual indicator will alert passengers when the train is about to leave the platform.
