Mumbai, July 31: A portion of a ceiling slab at Mumbai International Airport fell down around 10.30 pm on Tuesday. Water leakage is suspected to be the prime reason behind the incident. No injuries have been reported in the incident.
According to a Times of India report, the incident reportedly took place at 10.30pm in front of Gate-C at Terminal 2. BMC's Disaster Control office informed that a white Gypsum sheet fell from the ceiling of Mumbai T2 Airport. Earlier this month, when Mumbai was lashed with heavy rains, Mumbai International Airport's main runway was shut for a few days. SpiceJet flight from Jaipur carrying 167 passengers and crew overshot the runway after landing.
The aircraft remained stuck partially on the runway and the nearby grass area. The main runway had to be closed, and many flights were either cancelled or got diverted to the nearby Airport.
