Mumbai, August 30: The rising cases of crimes against women have become a crucial issue in the country. In a similar incident, a 32-year-old beautician from Shastri Nagar, near the Andheri Sports Complex, has filed a complaint with the Amboli police after being blackmailed and extorted for over INR 55,000 by a man she met on a dating app. The accused allegedly used a nude photo of the woman to blackmail her.

According to the Mid Day report, the victim, who befriended Ishan Rajput on the ‘Achat-Live Chat & Make Friends’ app, shared a nude photo with him after their conversations grew personal. Fearing defamation and wanting to protect her reputation, the woman transferred around INR 55,000 to Rajput through various accounts between July and August 24. An FIR has been registered under Sections 79 and 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and various sections of the IT Act. The Amboli police have begun investigating the case and are currently searching for the accused. “We are looking for the accused and are committed to bringing him to justice,” said an officer involved in the investigation.

In another incident, the police arrested a teacher of a civic school at Bhiwandi in Thane district on Wednesday for allegedly showing obscene videos to girl students on his mobile phone, an officer said on Thursday, August 29. The wrongdoing of the accused, identified as Muzammil, came to light after a Class 7 student told about it to her parents, the police said.
