Mumbai, June 30: An early morning jog turned into a nightmare for two brothers on the Andheri Flyover, known locally as the Jog Flyover, when they were struck by a speeding vehicle early on Saturday morning, June 29.  The impact of the collision was so severe that 18-year-old Vivek Yadav was flung over the flyover wall, falling 35 feet to the road below, while his 19-year-old brother, Abhay, sustained serious leg injuries. Cyclists discovered Abhay in a dazed state and rushed both brothers to the hospital. Vivek succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts, prompting a police investigation into the tragic hit-and-run.

As per a report by the Hindustan Times,  the brothers were out for an early morning jog around 5:30 am when a speeding vehicle struck them from behind on the flyover. They immediately provided assistance and rushed him to Holy Spirit Hospital in Mahakali Caves for medical treatment. Meanwhile, Vivek was found critically injured and was already admitted to the hospital by the time Abhay was discovered. Due to the severity of his injuries, Vivek required immediate oxygen support. However, his condition continued to deteriorate, prompting the family to request a transfer to Cooper Hospital, which is operated by the BMC. A life support ambulance arrived later to facilitate the transfer of both brothers to Cooper Hospital. Abhay, while stable, continued to receive medical treatment for his injuries sustained during the incident. In response to the incident, Senior Police Inspector Santaji Ghorpade from the Andheri police station confirmed the registration of a case under section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code for causing death due to negligence against the unknown driver responsible for the hit-and-run. The investigation is focusing on reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity of the flyover and gathering statements from witnesses to identify the vehicle and apprehend the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run.
