Mumbai: HDFC Bank VP Siddharth Sanghvi Who Went Missing 5 Days Ago Confirmed Dead
Sanghvi was abducted by the accused on Wednesday evening, at around 7:30pm, when he was leaving from his office at the Kamala Mills compound in Lower Parel.
Mumbai, Sept 10: One of the vice president of HDFC bank in Mumbai region, Siddharth Kiran Sanghvi, who went missing five days ago, has been confirmed dead by the police. The suspected killer, Sarfaraz Shaikh, has admitted to have murdered the banker and disposed his body at Haji Malang in Kalyan.
Sanghvi was abducted by the accused on Wednesday evening, at around 7:30pm, when he was leaving from his office at the Kamala Mills compound in Lower Parel. As the deceased did not return to his Malabar-based flat till 10pm, his wife approached the NM Joshi Marg police station, which subsequently alerted all police stations in Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai region.
A day later, Shaikh switched on the mobile of Sanghvi for five minutes, which allowed the police to detect his location. Based on the GPS tracking system, the Navi Mumbai police was alerted to reach the creek near Sector 11, Airoli. On reaching the spot, the police found the banker's abandoned car with blood stains on it.
On Sunday, the Navi Mumbai police succeeded in nabbing 20-year-old Shaikh from CBD Belapur. While initially denying to have murdered Sanghvi, the accused admitted to his crime. The investigators, however, are yet to ascertain the cause of murder. An official privy to the probe claimed that Shaikh has so far been misleading them, first claiming that he murdered Sanghvi following a robbery attempt, while later naming three bank officials who approached him for eliminating Sanghvi.
