Mumbai: Girl's Body Found at Lawns of Imperial Towers, Case of Accidental Death Registered
It was not clear whether the girl jumped to death or fell accidentally.
Mumbai, October 27: Body of a girl was found at lawns of Imperial Towers, one of the tallest buildings in India, early on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Priyanka Kothari who stayed on the 23rd floor of Imperial Towers with her parents and a brother. It was not clear whether Priyanka jumped to death or fell accidentally. The Tardeo police registered a case of accidental death, and an investigation was underway.
At 2 am, a watchman of Imperial Towers spotted a girl laying on the ninth floor lawns. Below the lawn is eight storey parking area. The building authority called the police who sent the body to Nair Hospital. "We had to wake up several residents before we found that the girl stayed on the 23rd floor," Sanjay Surve, senior inspector, Tardeo police station, told TOI. The girl’s father, Amrish Kothari was out of town when the incident took place. According to the police, Priyanka had returned to the home at 11.45pm on Friday. One of their three maids opened the door when Priyanka arrived and later had gone to sleep. Priyanka's body was found right down their duplex flat. Her mobile phone has not been recovered yet. The police did not discover any suicide note. “It’s still not clear whether she jumped from her balcony or went to some other floor," the police added.
Cops are collecting CCTV footages of the building. There is a CCTV in the flat’s hall. The police will soon check the footage of that camera.
