Mumbai, December 27: In the third major incident of fire in the city on Thursday, a blaze erupted at a housing society in Mumbai's Tilak Nagar region. Firefighting operations were underway by the time this report was published. At least five fire tenders were rushed to the spot, confirmed news agency ANI, adding the accident has turned fatal, with five persons being killed. Two others were said to be severely injured.
According to reports, the fire broke out at around 8:20om in the evening. The fire brigade has classified it as "level-3" blaze, indicating it to be serious. Fire Breaks Out In Kolkata Metro; 11 Passengers Rushed to Hospital, Services Disrupted.
The housing complex where the fire erupted is Sargam Society. The flames engulfed the 14th floor of the building.

Earlier in the day, a moderate-intensity fire broke out at a godown in Bhendi Bazaar area of South Mumbai. No fatalities or injuries were reported in the incident.
A fire was also reported at the Juinagar Railway station in Navi Mumbai, due to a short-circuit. Services on the trans-harbour line, connecting Thane with Panvel, was temporarily affected.
