Mumbai: Fire Breaks Out in Local Train at Juinagar Station; Services Disrupted on Trans-Harbour Line
Panic engulfed commuters at Navi Mumbai’s Juinagar station after a fire broke out in a local train standing there. Passengers vacated the train immediately. No casualties have been reported till now. However, the exact cause of the fire has not been ascertained.
Mumbai, December 27: Panic engulfed commuters at Navi Mumbai’s Juinagar station on Thursday after a fire broke out in a local train standing there. Passengers vacated the train immediately. No casualties have been reported till now. However, the exact cause of the fire has not been ascertained. Meanwhile, it is believed that fire broke out due to a short circuit in overhead wires. Train services are disrupted on trans- harbour route. Two trains have also been cancelled between Thane and Panvel station.
Earlier in July, an overhead cable wire caught fire at Mumbai’s Virar station. The fire was reported from platform number 4 of Virar railway station on the Western line. The blaze was caused due to a short circuit. Few passengers of the Dahanu-bound local, that was at the platform deboarded the train to distance themselves from the fire.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, a fire broke out in a Kolkata metro train from Maidan and Rabindra Sadan station. According to reports, the fire broke out when the train was passing through the underground tunnel. In Panic passengers even tried to break windows of the train. Some passengers were even fainted due to smoke. Authorities managed to control the fire. Meanwhile, rescue operations are still underway, and around 11 passengers were taken to a hospital
