Mumbai, January 5: A fire broke out at Mumbai’s Crawford Market area on Saturday evening. Eight fire tenders rushed to spot to control the blaze. No casualty has been reported till now. However, the exact cause of the fire has not been ascertained. Earlier in December last year, a blaze erupted at a housing society in Mumbai's Tilak Nagar region. According to reports, the fire broke out at around 8:20 pm in the evening. The fire brigade has classified it as "level-3" blaze.

The housing complex where the fire erupted is Sargam Society. The flames engulfed the 14th floor of the building. A total of five people were killed in the fire, while two others were severely injured.

In a similar incident, a major fire broke out at ESIC Kamgar Hospital in Andheri's Marol area on December 17. Around eight people were killed in the blaze. One of the deceased is a six-month-old baby. According to the fire department in Mumbai, ESIC Kamgar Hospital did not obtain a final No Objection Certificate (NOC). Union Minister Santosh Gangwar announced Rs 10 lakh for the families who lost their lives, Rs 2 lakh for those with severe injuries and Rs 1 lakh for those with minor injuries.
