Mumbai, Sept 7: Nine months after a massive fire ravaged the Kamala Mills compound in Lower Parel, which houses an array of high-end pubs and restaurants, another blaze erupted in the area on Friday.
Thick smoke was seen emanating from the Kamala Mills, with preliminary reports claiming that the flames erupted near the Fatty Bao restaurant.
The Mumbai Police on Twitter confirmed the fire incident, adding that the fire-fighting operation is underway. According to some social media users from the locality, the flames had been doused within 30 minutes after it broke. The development, however, was yet to be confirmed by the time this report was published.

In the fire which broke out in Kamala Mills on the intervening night of December 28-29 last year, a total of 16 people lost their lives. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), under the directions of the state government, had subsequently launched a crackdown on establishments, including restobars and dining hotels, which did not adhere to the fire safety norms.
The fresh fire incident comes three days after a blaze erupted in the bustling Somwari Bazar area of Malad West. No injuries of casualties were reported.
According to the data compiled by Mumbai Fire Brigade, a total of 4,592 entities, including commercial and residential, have been sent notices by the department between 2010 and 2016 for flouting the safety norms.
