Mumbai Fire: Level-3 Blaze Engulfs Lalmati Slum on Nagardas Road in Bandra

According to details available, the fire took place in atBandraa slum opposite Ali Yavar Jung hospital in Nargis Dutt Nagar. No loss of life has been reported so far.

Mumbai, October 30: A massive fire was reported from Bandra's Lalmati Slums in Mumbai on Tuesday. According to a tweet by ANI, a level-3 fire broke out in a slum at Lalmati, opposite Bandra Fire Station on Nagardas Road. Several reports inform that the fire took place in a slum that is opposite to Ali Yavar Jung hospital in Nargis Dutt Nagar in Bandra West area. No loss of life has been reported so far. The blaze took place at a place that is just metres away from Bandra railway station. Reports inform that nearly 10-12 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. According to recent tweets, commuters are advised to avoid off-ramp near Bandra Reclamation as the fire is believed to have originated from the shanty under the bridge. Mumbai: Fire in Moving Car Near Chakala Metro Station in Andheri.

In 2017, a similar fire broke out in a slum near Bandra station (East) after a gas cylinder exploded during a demolition drive by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Garib Nagar. Reports inform that the fire had burned down 76 hutments and resulted in property loss of around Rs 10 lakh. A fire brigade report that came out later revealed that that fuel (possibly kerosene) was deliberately spread to set fire to the demolished debris.
